Description

This beautiful berry slush drink for a crowd is so sweet and fruity. Easy to make and freeze ahead so you simply add ginger ale and serve.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 7 cups water
  • 1 (12-ounce) can of orange juice concentrate, thawed
  • 1 (12-ounce) can of lemonade concentrate, thawed
  • 2 (46-ounce) cans of pineapple juice
  • 12 bananas, mashed
  • 2 (16-ounce) cans of crushed pineapple
  • 8 cups mixed berries, cut into small pieces

Instructions

  1. Make a simple syrup by heating a medium saucepan over medium heat and dissolve the sugar in water. Then let it cool.
  2. Thaw the orange juice concentrate and lemonade concentrate. Then stir the simple syrup into the  two thawed concentrates.
  3. In a blender, add the bananas and crushed pineapple and blend for 30 – 60 seconds until well mashed. Set aside.
  4. Prepare the berries and other fruit and process in the blender for 2-3 minutes or until well blended.
  5. In a large bowl, combine the simple syrup mixture, banana and pineapple mixture and the mixed berries and fruit mixture and stir well to combine.
  6. Place in gallon-size zip-close storage bags and freeze flat.
  7. Label 4-6 gallon-size freezer zipper close bags. Then fill each bag with the berry fruit mixture and carefully close. Remove as much air as you can, but don’t overfill the bag since you want it to store flat and not explode as the berry slush freezes.
  8. Freeze the bags for at least 8 hours or until solid.
  9. Store the flat bags of berry slush drink for a crowd for up to 6 months.
  10. To serve, thaw a bag of berry slush for about 1 hour before serving (just enough that you can break up the slush into chunks).
  11. Add 1-2 liters (depending on how thick you want the drink) of ginger ale or lemon lime soda to a bag of berry slush and serve.

Notes

If serving the slush in a punch bowl with a ladle, the slush should be thicker. If pouring from a pitcher or dispensing from a spout, you will want a thinner drink so serving is easier.
